Stuck in Porta Potty...Naked PDF Print E-mail

Lebanon Pa... firefighters were Johnnies-on-the-spot for a man who got himself into a stinker of a situation over the weekend.
A county Emergency Management Agency dispatch that came in at 9:27 p.m. Sunday told the odd tale: “Rescue subject stuck in porta potty.”

Rescuers may have expected to find an overturned portable toilet with the unfortunate victim of a practical joke inside. Instead, when they arrived at the former Harold’s Furniture store in the 600 block of Cumberland Street, they found 31-year-old Shannon P. Hunter of Lebanon drunk, naked and wedged up to his waist in the hole of the toilet, said Deputy Fire Commissioner Chris Miller.

“I’m not sure what exactly was taking place inside the port-o-pot,” Miller said. “All I know is that the subject was wedged in the tank. ... He would only say he needed to use the bathroom, and he claimed he fell in the toilet. When I asked him why he was naked, he just shrugged his shoulders.”

The portable toilet was at the rear of the building, which is being remodeled as the new offices of Pennsylvania Counseling Services. Miller said he thinks Hunter was trapped for about 30 minutes before his yells for help alerted someone who called 9-1-1.

Because of the human waste and the formaldehyde-based chemicals in the toilet, rescuers had to put on biohazard suits to rescue Hunter, Miller said. Using liquid soap and a saw to cut away the plastic toilet, Hunter was eventually released from his predicament after about 25 minutes.

“He was wedged in tight, so we systematically had to cut pieces of the toilet away so we did not cause further harm to him,” Miller recalled. “After he was released, the subject then had to be decontaminated before he could be presented to (paramedics) so he could be evaluated and treated for scrapes and abrasions around his hips.”

The rescue workers and the immediate area surrounding the toilet also were decontaminated, Miller said.

Police Chief Bill Harvey said Hunter admitted to having seven beers at a local establishment before his excrement adventure.

“This defies sober logic,” Harvey said.

Hunter was charged with public drunkenness, police said, while Miller charged Hunter with creating a health-code violation.

Hunter could not be reached for comment because there was no listing for him in the phone book.

Grandmother of the Year

A suburban woman who gave her 9-year-old granddaughter two glasses of gin so the woman could go out to celebrate her 47th birthday was sentenced Thursday to 30 days of electronic home monitoring, with 335 days in prison stayed for two years.

Joanne DeLoach, convicted of child endangerment, had hoped the girl would pass out so she could leave the Bloomington apartment for the night instead of continuing to babysit the child, police said. The incident occurred Aug. 31, and the girl's mother was working a 12-hour shift, police said.

The girl told Bloomington officers that after drinking the gin she vomited, hit her head and blacked out. When the girl's mother returned home about 7:30 p.m., the girl was home alone on the couch, police Cmdr. Jim Ryan said.

A portable breath test showed she had a blood-alcohol level of 0.042 percent more than eight hours after drinking the gin.

....What a piece of work this woman is.....

Have a Shower Honey....It's Refreshing

A 60-year-old electrician allegedly tried to electrocute his wife while she showered in their Oshawa home over the weekend, Durham Regional Police say.

The woman said she sustained several electrical shocks when adjusting the taps in the shower on Sunday. When she complained to her husband, he allegedly told her it was a build up of static electricity.

The next day she discovered a section of drywall missing and electrical wires attached to the plumbing in the bathroom.

Police allege that when she confronted her husband, he choked her almost to unconsciousness.

When the man left the house, the woman contacted police.

Clarington cops saw the suspect driving a red Grand Am eastbound in the Hwy. 2-Regional Rd. 57 area, and activated their lights and sirens.

The driver didn't pull over and a chase -- reaching speeds in excess of 170 km/h -- ensued. Safety concerns prompted the officers to call off the chase.

The suspect was spotted driving in Port Hope a short while later, where cops arrested him without further incident.

Police said officers found a note on the passenger's seat that read: "I am so sorry for everything that has happened."

The note continued: "You are a good woman and none of this is your fault. You deserve better than I could be."

Police did not release the name of the man who is charged with mischief endangering life, aggravated assault, assault causing bodily harm and failing to stop for police.

Berowra Fire Rescue officers were called to alleviate the man from his awkward predicament at 3am.

It was not clear how the situation arose.

The man may well have thought long and hard about placing himself in the difficult situation.

Fire Rescue Officers spent more than an hour unsuccessfully attempting to remove the washers, before the man was taken into an operating theatre about 4.30am.

Surgeons took about 90 minutes to remove the washers using fire brigade equipment.

A hospital spokesman said equipment normally used to remove rings from fingers was ineffective because of the thicker nature of the washers.

The man was in a satisfactory condition.

It is believed the only lasting damage may be to his pride.

Isolated tribe spotted in Brazil

One of South America's few remaining uncontacted indigenous tribes has been spotted and photographed on the border between Brazil and Peru.

The Brazilian government says it took the images to prove the tribe exists and help protect its land.

The pictures, taken from an aeroplane, show red-painted tribe members brandishing bows and arrows.
